    Gregory L. Panarello, DVM, DACVECC, graduated with honors from Wagner College in Staten Island, New York, where he received his Bachelors of Science degree. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida, and was the recipient of many Academic Achievement Awards. Dr. Panarello completed an intensive one-year emergency and critical care internship and a comprehensive three-year residency in emergency and critical care at Long Island Veterinary Specialists. Dr. Panarello is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care. Dr. Panarello has authored articles for the "Society for Neuro Science Journal" and has been the Director of Emergency and Critical Care Department at Long Island Veterinary Specialists since 1998. His special interests include ischemia, reperfusion injury, sepsis, and avian/exotic emergencies.

After spending two years in private practice, she then completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists. She has been working as an emergency room doctor at South Shore Animal Hospital for the past two years. Dr. Berger's interests include: toxicities, trauma, transfusion medicine, and surgery.     Dr. Bryce Tusa received his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in 2007 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University in 2011. He then completed a rotating small animal internship at the New England Animal Medical Center in Massachusette. Dr. Tusa is a native New Yorker originally from Long Island, NY but now living in Brooklyn. Dr. Tusa's areas of interest include emergency medicine, surgery and behavior. He currently has three dogs - a pit bull named Deuce, a Labrador named Sassy and a maltese named Princess. In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his dogs, rock climbing and traveling.

    Dr. Amy Kantor received her veterinary degree from the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation she completed a small animal general medicine and surgical internship at the University of Utrecht, the Netherlands, followed by a three-year residency in soft tissue and orthopedic small animal surgery at University of Utrecht. She has been in surgical practice since 1990 and prior to joining South Shore Animal Hospital in February 2014, had performed surgery at Fifth Avenue Veterinary Specialists since summer 2006. . Dr. Kantor's surgical interests include trauma surgery, abdominal surgery, and soft-tissue reconstructive surgery, particularly for cats and dogs with neoplasia. She uses the soft-tissue laser scalpel for certain procedures in which local pain and swelling must be minimized as much as possible, such as in corrective airway surgery for brachycephalic breed dogs. . Dr. Kantor has appeared in New York Magazine's Best Vets listing as one of NY's top veterinary surgeons. Her counseling of clients whose dogs or cats face serious congenital orthopedic disease or whose older animals may require cancer surgery have made her a client favorite, well-known for her patience and kind demeanor in the exam room as well as her extensive knowledge of surgical disease. . Dr. Amy Kantor is always happy to 'pre-consult 'with referring veterinarians or anxious owners. She is available at South Shore Animal Hospital starting mid February 2014 and is looking forward to working with our referring veterinarians, clients and their pets.     Dr. Rosie Busayawatanasood attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in Ithaca, NY and obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. While at Cornell, she received the American Animal Hospital Award in 2010 and the Simmons Educational Fund Business Aptitude Award in 2009. She was also a member of the National Veterinary Honor Society (Cornell University Phi Zeta) from 2009-2010. After graduation, she completed a year of Small Animal Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency and Critical Care rotating internship from 2010 to 2011 and a year of Ophthalmology dedicated internship from 2011 to 2012 at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY. Dr. Rosie currently resides on Long Island with a tabby cat named Jellie and a mini-lop rabbit named Lola, who get along quite well at home. Her interests include ophthalmology and small exotic mammals such as rabbits and hamsters, among others.
